New York Times – Article that asks what is a “decent wage?” Michelin, based out of France with a United States presence headquartered here in Greenville, announced in April 2024 that they would guarantee all of its 132,000 employees will make a “decent wage,” wherever they are in the world. The announcement led to a debate in France around what a decent wage means at the same time that companies are balancing environmental, social and governance criteria and the call to pay a living wage salary that corresponds to the costs of rent, food, transportation and childcare costs.
